3 Ways to Work Out on the Way to Work

When Monday comes around, you're hardly eager to go back to work and to top it off the commute cuts into your spare time for exercise. But remember that you can control how you get to work. Try these fun ways to get fit and stay active while you travel to your weekday job.

1. Walk it! Skip the bus, train or car to power walk to work if possible. Adding approximately one hour of low-impact cardio per day can help stabilize your weight and increase energy. Remember to wear comfortable athletic shoes, move at a brisk pace, use a backpack to balance your load and allow your arms to swing freely.

2. Get Rollin'! Take your bike or use rollerblades to get to your work. If that’s not an option, consider using them during your lunchtime. This exercise break will help get you into better shape while also relieving some of your workday stress. Whether biking or blading, research and plan multiple routes to change up the scenery and for safety use a helmet and select traffic-free areas or pedestrian lanes.

3. Scoot It! Yes, we’re serious! Purchase a portable lightweight scooter that folds up and is easy to carry. A scooter is a fun way to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine. You can choose a well-maintained path that includes some uphill and downhill areas so you can push yourself but still enjoy the ride.
